Mobility and Environmental Protection

There is a close connection between mobility and prosperity. Mobility produces prosperity as a result of more division of labour - and as interaction: more prosperity permits more mobility. This trend can be demonstrated by comparing the gross national product and the vehicle stock of countries.

The worldwide struggle for greater prosperity will lead to a further increase in vehicle density, particularly through the increase in the developing world. This will become a worldwide challenge to environmental protection.
