On 11 August 2011 Emitec celebrated its 25th anniversary. The company derived its name from the term 'emission technology'. The founding team consisted of three members with Wolfgang Maus, the former director of Interatom’s automotive technology division, at the helm. Their comprehensive knowledge of joining unusual materials and other new structural and manufacturing innovations enabled Emitec to solve the existing problems relating to the production and application of metal catalysts. Some 1,000 employees and a planned turnover of 180 million euros in 2011 reflect the company’s success. Today Emitec leads the world market in metal substrates for exhaust gas catalysts and metal diesel particulate filters for motor vehicles and for mobile and stationary machinery with combustion engines.
